Course Description
Enhance your discharge recommendations by seeing and trying a variety of durable medical equipment including wheelchairs, walkers, raised toilet seats, tub seats, home exercise equipment and equipment to modify the home environment. Several new types of tub seats and rolling walkers will be featured along with equipment and supplies that can make the transition home easier for patients and their caregivers. Reimbursement considerations will discussed in depth so that therapists can understand the financial impact of the equipment they recommend including reimbursement under various types of Medicare, public aid and private insurance. A variety of equipment will be on display for participants to try. Therapists will be encouraged to discuss their experiences with various types of equipment. This module was developed to answer questions that arose in a previous module on home modification.

- Identify DME equipment that would be useful for various patient populations
- Differentiate features that would make one piece of equipment more advantageous over similar pieces of equipment
- Identify ordering, delivery, and installation options available
- Recognize DME reimbursement available from various payer types
- Review documentation requirements for optimal reimbursement
