Course Description Participants will gain an understanding of identifying wheelchair and seating needs, evaluation methods, and interventions to increase function and maintain skin integrity for individuals using a wheelchair. The content will be pertinent to individuals who work in a variety of settings.
Learning Objectives
- Review the need for optimal positioning of patients in various settings
- Explore the impact improper positioning can have on patient’s function and care burden
- Identify triggers that would prompt a Wheelchair and Seating Screening
- Explore evaluation methods used in wheelchair and seating
- Discuss specific wheelchair and seating needs by setting, and by diagnostic category
- Review mechanical and therapeutic interventions that can be used to optimize positioning
